Multiple People Shot at Howe Community Park Sacramento — Unlawful Gathering Results in Shooting

Saturday night, an unlawful gathering of hundreds of people at Howe Park in Sacramento County's Arden-Arcade neighborhood descended into chaos when between 20 and 25 shots rang out as Sacramento County Sheriff's Deputies were actively clearing the crowd.

What Happened

Just after 6:30 PM, the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department received reports reporting individuals possibly carrying concealed weapons at Howe Park. Another caller reported a potential fight and subjects running away.

A sheriff's helicopter was dispatched and conducted an aerial search but was unable to locate any active disturbance.

At the same time, several hundred people had gathered at the park for what authorities described as an unapproved assembly. Responding deputies set up around the park, illuminated the area with emergency lights, and dedicated around 15 minutes commanding the crowd to clear out through their vehicle PA systems.

While law enforcement cleared the gathering, an estimated 20 to 25 rounds filled the night air — triggering a panicked crowd in all directions at once.

Those Injured

Four people — a woman and three men, all in their 20s — were taken to nearby hospitals. Two sustained immediate injuries, one victim had moderate injuries, and one with minor injuries. The crime scene was located on the Cottage Way side side of the park close to the nearby Home Depot at the 2200 block of Howe Avenue. The nearby Home Depot was locked down for a period of time. Suspect Information

Over law enforcement radio traffic, it was confirmed that a suspect vehicle — identified as a Kia — was detained in the Solano County area with four individuals detained. Sacramento County Sheriff's Office units were traveling to collect those website detained and return them to Sacramento. Video confirmed two shooters were involved.
